When has Rihanna ever stuck to pesky fashion conventions?

Did you really think, for a moment, that the woman who wore a blue tulle Molly Goddard confection on a casual Tuesday, who decked herself in “I Hate Rihanna” merch to ring in her thirtieth birthday, and who didn’t let something like holiday sickness bar her from dressing up in red Christopher Kane would settle for whatever constitutes “festival style” in 2018? Of course she wouldn’t.

For the first weekend of Coachella, Rihanna worked with stylist Jahleel Weaver on three distinct lewks for each day of festival-going.

First came a custom buckled set and mini bag by Chrome Hearts, which she polished off with some jewelry by Chopard and Loree Rodkin (and a Cardi B reference), for the Friday concerts.

Then, on Saturday, Bad Gal doubled up on the fashion—first, with a full Fenty look for a pool party she hosted in the desert, then with a Y-Project getup that might just sell you on those viral over-the-knee Uggs.

…and Nighttime Coachella Rih.

And the details! Jewelry from David Webb, Neil Lane, Camilla Dietz Bergeron, Craig Evan Small; a Gucci hair clip; a bun so perfectly messy it makes me wish for Fenty Beauty dry shampoo.

Finally, on Sunday—when many Coachella Beychella attendees are feeling tired, dehydrated, and hungover—Rihanna delivers what’s perhaps the most epic look of all: a combination of Chrome Hearts, Elisabeth Weinstock, Rochas, and Gucci.

Just when you thought those Gucci fall 2018 balaclavas wouldn’t sell…

I’m truly besides myself at the thought that we’re getting another weekend of this in just a few days.

Coachella Weekend 2, we’re ready.
